PROJECT OVERVIEW
THE CHALLENGE
Kyle Lowry was set to be passing through Chicago for 1 day to capture an interview with Complex Canada. Since the Complex Canada team could not all travel from Canada to Chicago for this project, it was very important for them to find a local company that could manage the entire production while working closely with their director Alex Narvaez onsite. Rest assured, JV Studios was ready for the challenge!
THE PROCESS
We worked directly with Complex Producer, Bryanna Kimens, in seeking out the best space for this shoot, with a rustic, exposed-brick vibe, and an artistic flair. It was very important for the space to complement the look and feel of the interview they envisioned. When we came across the set with a splash of red paint on the back wall, just like the red color of Lowry’s current team, the Miami Heat, we instantly knew our search was over.
We used utilized a 4 camera approach to the filming of this interview. The only drawback we had in this space was the windows. Since the outside light is constantly changing, we wanted to have complete control of our lighting. It was a necessity to black out the windows and our solution of using (2) 12x12 black flags worked perfectly for what we needed to cover up.
It is not every day you get to be on set with an NBA all-star player, let alone pass them the ball on camera. From the initial location scouting to the production elements, our team was able to execute our client’s vision for the video. We served as their remote production company in Chicago. This was one for the books.

THE RESULTS
Overall the client was very impressed with our team’s ability to execute the vision given it was our first time working together. This video was a success and aired on a variety of Complex social channels, including Complex Canada and Comples CA. Read the article and learn more from the shoot.
