BEHIND THE LENS: “FIT TOGETHER”

THE PROJECT

When Glenstar Properties, an integrated real estate firm with a vision to create spaces that redefine what work should look like, reached out to us about producing a marketing video for their fitness partnership with Midtown Health, we knew this was going to be a fun video to create!

As Glenstar began to expand building workout facilities inside their offices, finding a partner to manage the gyms was crucial.

Midtown Health specializes in managing fitness centers to ensure your business maximizes your potential opportunities through medically integrated programming, innovative technology utilization, and top-notch management practices.

As these two companies partnered together, JV Studios was tagged in to help produce the project. The main goal of the video was to bring awareness and encouragement to the fitness community inside each of the buildings. As a perk to some of the tenants, the gym membership is free or discounted to anyone interested in joining. Since the gyms are brand new, it was time to get the word out to the community.

THE SETUP

The shoot consisted of a 6 person crew over the course of 3 shooting days. Since we had to shoot in multiple buildings with different locations, it was important to bring a compact setup that was going to make it easier on our crew while not jeopardizing the production quality.

During pre-production, we scouted all locations ahead of time so we knew exactly what we were going into on the day of the shoot. Some things we made sure to keep note of were the size of the space, lighting when the gyms were crowded the most, and how we could navigate all of our gear without interfering with the gym goers.  Luckily, with the help of our Rock-N-Roller Multi Cart, we were able to take all of our equipment in one trip!

We chose to shoot the video using two Sony A7sii cameras with a multiple of Canon L series lenses consisting of 24-70mm, 100mm, 70-200mm. Our main point of stabilization was achieved using our Freefly Systems Movi stabilizer as well as a handheld camera setup for more natural camera movements.

For the scenes where we had the most creative flexibility for lighting, we used two Arri LC-7’s that allowed us to control the hue and saturation of our scene along with a few cans of atmosphere aerosol to give us a little haze and fog to the image in camera.
