THE PROJECT

JV Studios teamed up with Plan B Marketing Agency to produce a lifestyle commercial for Nauzene Kids, a fast-acting homeopathic remedy for stomach aches with a taste kids love. The intention of the project was to showcase the product’s ability to effectively relieve stomach pain in a fun and engaging way through family humor and playful parenting.

The project took place over two full production days and consisted of a ten-person production team, hired by JV Studios. Our goal for the first prep day was to set the space accordingly and start dialing in the lighting and look for the main shot the next day. By utilizing a full production crew, we were able to set up and break down various looks within the same location, ensuring our team would be as efficient as possible with our time on set and main talent.

THE CONCEPT & APPROACH

When Plan B Marketing Agency approached us with their initial storyboards for the video, we knew this would be a perfect collaboration. First, it was important to the client to shoot in a location that portrayed the ideal demographic of its customers. In doing so, we utilized Peerspace, a peer-to-peer marketplace for booking unique events, meetings, and production spaces. Once our location was set, it was time to source the rest of our production needs.

camera filming commercial for Nauzene With every production, there are always challenges bound to arise once you actually get on set. The first challenge we faced involved a slight difference in the furniture we expected at the location, causing us to move some things around to match our vision. With permission from the owners, our team was able to properly move everything without any problems. Once we got the picture on camera up, we noticed another problematic detail: the black lamps above the main island. Since it did not match the brand’s style, we had to figure out a way to move these lamps mounted on the ceiling. With teamwork and some creativity, we were able to use c-stands, rope, and clamps to carefully remove the lamps just enough to be out of the main frame.

OUR TALENT

For the talent portion of our shoot, we casted mother, son, and father roles. The only catch was this family was all unrelated and it was important for all three of them to have on-camera, family chemistry. The best part about working with these three talented actors was their energy, positive attitude, and willingness to go until we got the perfect shot. It was truly a great time working with all three of these individuals!
