Complex Canada’s Alex Narvaez sat down with Kyle Lowry to talk about Lowry’s emotions leading up to Sunday night, what he misses most about Toronto, and plenty more—including a scouting report on Drake’s 1-on-1 game. Check out the full conversation.
The Challenge
Kyle Lowry was passing through Chicago for one day for an interview with Complex Canada. Since the Complex Canada team could not all travel from Canada to Chicago for this project, it was very important for them to find a local company that could manage the entire production while working closely with their director Alex Narvaez onsite.
The Process
We worked with Complex producer Bryanna Kimens to find a space that complemented the look and feel of the interview they envisioned. When we came across this rustic, exposed-brick space with a splash of red paint on the back wall just like the red color of Lowry’s current team, the Miami Heat, we knew our search was over. We used a four-camera approach for filming. The only drawback we had in this space was the windows. Outdoor light is constantly changing, and we needed complete control over the lighting, so we used two 12×12 black flags to black out the windows.
“It is not every day you get to be on set with an NBA all-star player, let alone pass them the ball on camera. From the initial location scouting to the production elements, our team was able to execute our client’s vision for the video. We served as their remote production company in Chicago. This was one for the books.” —Vince Pinto, Director, JV Studios
The Results
Complex was very impressed with our team’s ability to execute their vision, especially since it was our first time working together. This video was a success and aired on several Complex social channels, including Complex Canada and Complex CA. Read the article and learn more from the shoot.
